Selena Marie Gomez was born to Mandy Teefey and Ricardo Gomez on July 22, 1992. At a young age, she moved from New York to Grand Prairie, Texas. Giving birth to Selena at 16, her mom Mandy recalls living "paycheck-to-paycheck". Selena started out on "Barney & Friends" (1992) as "Gianna" in 2001 where she really discovered her talent. Unfortunately, they dropped her from the series after just two years. In 2003, she had a very small role in the movie Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003) and a bit part in 2005 when she played "Julie" in Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005) (TV) with Mitchel Musso and in 2006 as "Emily Grace Garcia" in Brain Zapped (2006) (TV) when she recorded a song for the movie. She she guest starred as "Gwen" in "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" (2005) and as Hannah's rival, the 'evil' "Mikayla", in "Hannah Montana" (2006). Selena's amazing talent landed her roles in two Disney series, both spin-offs. Unfortunately, neither show was picked up until 2007 when she got the role of "Alex Russo" in the magical series "Wizards of Waverly Place" (2007) which she auditioned for three times. In March 2008, she made her first animated movie Horton Hears a Who! (2008) and later starred in Another Cinderella Story (2008) (V) with Disney Channel star Drew Seeley for ABC Family. Mommy Mandy gave birth to Selena at 16, and her parents divorced in 1997. Nearly 10 years later, she was remarried to Brian Teefy. Selena is best known for her role as "Alex Russo" in the show, "Wizards of Waverly Place" (2007), and as "Mary" in Another Cinderella Story (2008) (V). Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens have been busy promoting their latest film 'Girls Gone Wild' with the ever so hot James Franco!!
Justin Bieber's girlfriend stars alongside Hudgens and co-stars Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine in what is set to be the 'must-see' movie of the summer.
The group of friends head to Florida for spring break, but can't afford the lavish holiday they want, so decide to rob a restaurant.
Franco, who is unrecognisable in the movie, plays a drug dealer who bails the ladies out of jail and seduces them into his world of drugs, sex and violence.

Speaking about her part in the movie, Gomez said: "I was getting kind of repetitive in terms of the roles I was picking, and I really wanted to do something that was completely different," she says.
"It was a mark thing for me—like, ‘This is what I want to be doing.' I want to be taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a stretch."
She adds: "I mean, I'd never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funny—they had to show me how to do it."

Selena Gomez Serenades A Sick Fan

Selena Gomez recently made a sick fan's dream come true after inviting the little girl to her concert and serenading her onstage.

The young cancer patient, identified only as Ella, listened to Gomez's music to keep her spirits up in hospital after she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma, and was thrilled when Make-A-Wish Foundation bosses gave her the chance to meet her idol.

The very generous Selena treated Ella to a pampering session before they retreated to the singer's penthouse suite at West Hollywood's Mondrian Hotel, where the two played video games and posed for pictures together.

But the best was yet to come - Ella was given the star treatment with a limousine ride to Gomez's concert, where the teen sensation dedicated her hit Love You Like a Love Song to her.

In her true style, Selena insisted that she was honoured to help out, "I have worked with Make-A-Wish many, many times. I think the organisation is really amazing. They make kids that are going through something that may be difficult - for not just them but for the whole family - they put a really wonderful smile on their face."

"The biggest honour is actually the kids. You kind of take them away from their world for a minute, talk to them, get to know them, be a part of them. Today, meeting Ella, was really sweet and one of those moments."

Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber has confirmed his new single is a tribute to his girlfriend Selena Gomez.

The 18-year-old pop star released 'Boyfriend', the first single from his upcoming album 'Believe', this month and the song features the lyrics, "If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go/ I can take you places you ain't never been before.
Fans had speculated the song was about his long-running romance with singer-actress Gomez, and Bieber has now revealed the rumours are true, reported E! online.

"She (Gomez) loves it. It is about her," he said in a radio programmme. The singer also described how he makes their relationship work.

"It's just about being honest with one another. You just have to be honest, that's the first thing, because if you're not honest then the relationship is just not a good relationship," he said.
